Paul Carr Quartet – Fresh, bold DC jazz |
|
Saxophonist, educator, and director Paul Carr has been an extraordinary jazz ambassador for decades. While consistently performing and recording throughout his career, Mr. Carr is also known throughout the Washington area for his work in the education and preservation of the great and uniquely American jazz tradition. We are pleased and honored to welcome Mr. Carr and his quartet to our stage after years of sold-out shows at other storied DC jazz venues. Having trained generations of young musicians, Paul knows jazz like no other. |

Life of Pi |
|
A THEATRICAL EVENT UNLIKE ANYTHING ELSE!
Winner of three Tony Awards® and the Olivier Award for Best Play, the Broadway and West End sensation LIFE OF PI is “an exhilarating evening of theater” (The Wall Street Journal).
Based on the novel that sold more than 15 million copies and became a worldwide phenomenon, LIFE OF PI is an epic story of perseverance and hope that speaks to every generation and “gives new life to Broadway” (The Today Show).
After a shipwreck in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, a sixteen-year-old boy named Pi survives on a lifeboat with four companions—a hyena, a zebra, an orangutan, and a Royal Bengal tiger. |

Spirituals with the Morgan State University Choir |
|
Few musical traditions exemplify the power of the human spirit like the African American spiritual. Standing distinct from gospel and with an educational and performance history dating to the 1870s, the spiritual endures as a timeless and achingly beautiful response to the horrors of enslavement. As true emissaries of the craft, the Morgan State University Choir have brought their signature astounding skill around the U.S. and the world for decades. Led by Dr. Eric Conway, a brilliant pianist in his own right, the choir brings downG the roof in every house they play, with a sensitive and deeply informed approach leading them along the way. |
